“Harley Quinn” Animated Series Heading To DC Digital Service

Warner Bros., via Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group, issued a straight-to-series order for a Harley Quinn animated comedy, which is slated to be part of it’s upcoming DC Comics-themed digital platform. Initial details state the 26-episode series will be spearheaded by producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey, who previously worked on Powerless. The animated series will be heavily inspired by the Harley Quinn character currently featured in the DC Comics title of the same name.

The animated series will also feature Poison Ivy and a cast of assorted heroes and villains from around the DC universe. The animated series follows Harley as she breaks things off with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal “queenpin” of Gotham City. Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, will be one of the executive producers. Jennifer Coyle also produces with Halpern and Schumacker’s Ehsugadee Productions in association with Warner Bros. Animation.

Additional details will be released in 2018, along with a first look at the animated series and further details concerning the show’s cast and crew. The role of Harley Quinn is currently not cast, but Warner Bros. is expected to approach Margot Robbie, who played the character in 2016’s live-action Suicide Squad feature, to reprise the role.

Harley Quinn will join the upcoming Young Justice: Outsiders revival and the live-action Titans on DC’s forthcoming digital platform, which is set to be revealed in 2018. Stay tuned for select coverage in the coming months right here at The World’s Finest.

“Batman And Harley Quinn” Comic Collection Coming March 2018

DC Comics has announced a special hardcover collection of the recent Batman and Harley and Harley and Batman digital comic titles, based on the 2017 Batman and Harley Quinn DC Universe Original Movie title, will hit shelves in March 2018. The twelve issues digital comic series featured a five-part Harley Quinn and Batman prequel segment, covering events leading up to the animated movie, and a seven-part Batman and Harley Quinn sequel segment exploring the film’s fallout. “Batman: Gotham by Gaslight” Coming To Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD On February 6, 2018

Batman: Gotham by GaslightInspired by the landmark one-shot Elseworlds tale by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola, Batman: Gotham By Gaslight will be available in several popular formats as only the second Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack ($39.99 SRP) release of a DC Universe Movie. The film will also be available as a Blu-ray Combo Pack ($24.98 SRP) and DVD ($19.98 SRP), and Digital ($19.99 HD, $14.99 SD). The Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc in 4K with HDR and a Blu-ray disc featuring the film; the Blu-ray Combo Pack features the film in hi-definition; and the DVD features the movie in standard definition. The Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Combo Pack include a digital version of the film.

Batman: Gotham By Gaslight takes place at the turn of the century as America’s continued industrial revolution is to be showcased at a World’s Fair hosted by Gotham City. But while the world prepares to witness the glittery glory of Gotham’s technological advances, there is a killer loose in the city’s darkest shadows. Preying on the city’s women, this killer is as precise as he is cruel. As Police Commissioner James Gordon tries to calm the fears of Gotham’s citizens regarding the butcher called Jack the Ripper, the masked vigilante Batman enacts his own detective work – with the help of confident, capable Selina Kyle – to stop the Ripper’s murderous spree. Acclaimed for his performance in Batman: Under The Red Hood, Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story, Star Trek, iRobot) reprises his role as the voice of the Dark Knight in Batman: Gotham By Gaslight. Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, Limitless) makes her DC Universe Movies debut as the voice of Selina Kyle. Super sleuths Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma join forces with the world’s greatest detective, Batman, when they discover that villains from both of their respective rogues’ galleries have also combined efforts to terrorize the city. With Scooby snacks in tow, the crime-fighting teams encounter classic Batman foes (Joker, Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn) and allies (The Question, Aquaman, Plastic Man, Martian Manhunter) along with a bevy of fiends from Scooby-Doo lore (Spooky Space Kook, Gentleman Ghost, Miner 49er, Ghost Clown). Forty-five years ago, Batman (and Robin) were the featured guest stars in a pair of The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Premiering in 1972, the renowned detectives worked to solve crimes together in the hour-long television movies entitled The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair and The Caped Crusader Caper.

Diedrich Bader, who voiced the Dark Knight in the fan-favorite Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated television series, reprises his role for this all-new film alongside the longtime Scooby-Doo voice cast of Frank Welker (Scooby-Doo & Fred), Grey Griffin (Daphne and Black Canary), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) and Kate Micucci (Velma). The guest cast includes Jeff Bennett (Joker), Jeffrey Combs (The Question), John DiMaggio (Aquaman), Nika Futterman (Catwoman), Nicholas Guest (Martian Manhunter), John Michael Higgins (The Riddler), Tom Kenny (Penguin, Plastic Man), Kevin Michael Richardson (Detective Chimp), Tara Strong (Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy) and Fred Tatasciore (Harvey Bullock).

Jake Castorena directs the teleplay by Paul Giacoppo, based on a story by supervising producer James Tucker. Michael Jelenic is the producer. Executive Producer is Sam Register. Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan are Executive Producers.
