Review (James Harvey): Since the movie is reviewed elsewhere on the site, let’s take a quick look at the package. Those looking to pick up this Batman Collection (DVD 3-Pack), well, you aren’t in for anything new. The collection contains Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero, and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Edited Version), and the content here is exactly the same as in their original DVD releases. In fact, this collection is just the three releases collected in a cardboard slipcase. That’s all. The extras for these three releases are the same as their respective individual releases, so if you already have these, you know what you’re in for. If not, well, you’ll get a nice amount of extras overall. The biggest extra in the overall collection is the commentary on Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, with the rest of the content including production info on both Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero, and merely a theatrical trailer for Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

For those wondering why Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman isn’t included, this release was meant to be bought in addition to Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman at a discounted price for those who may not own these three films. Similar to how companies re-release movies whenever a sequel is released, that is exactly what Warner Home Video did here. If you don’t own any of these three films, then this is a bargain-priced alternative to getting all three movies included here.
