Quotes
BATMAN IS TYING TWO THUGS UP OUTSIDE OF A JEWELRY STORE THAT HAS A BROKEN WINDOW.
THIEF #1: We're locksmiths, I swear!
THIEF #2: Yeah, and the masks, uh. . . a fashion statement!
THIEF #1: Give us a break!
--
CATWOMAN: Hmm. Same old self-righteous stiff.
BATMAN: It doesn't look like you've changed much either, Selina.
--
CATWOMAN: . . .And you can't get rid of them! They're like old boyfriends or warts.
BATMAN: And you figured I'd save your skin.
CATWOMAN: That's what you do, isn't it?
BATMAN: Normally, but it'll cost you.
CATWOMAN: (intrigued): Mmm. What did you have in mind?
BATMAN: Everything you've every stolen. It all goes back to the owners.
CATWOMAN: You're crazy! That's my life's work you're talking about!
BATMAN: Alright then.
HE BEGINS TO POWER DOWN THE BATMOBILE. A CAT CULT MEMBER SLASHES CATWOMAN'S WINDOW.
CATWOMAN: We got a deal! Drive!
--
BATMAN (off screen): Tell me where Catwoman is.
CULTIST: W-- Where are you?
BATMAN (off screen): Wrong answer. You're fond of cats, aren't you? Maybe you'll like my favorite animal.
BATS SWARM THE CULTIST AND HE FALLS INTO THE CHASM. A HOOK GRABS HIS LEG AND THE TERRIFIED CULTIST LOOKS INTO THE DARK ABYSS.
CULTIST: Alright! I'll tell you!
--
BATMAN: I'll do what I can but right now we have to--
CATWOMAN GRABS BATMAN AND KISSES HIM.
BATMAN: Now can we go?
--
CATWOMAN: What are you just standing there for? Help me up!
BATMAN: And how do I get up?
CATWOMAN: I'll. . . I'll help you! After what I just did for you, you don't trust me?
BATMAN: I might have been knocked out twice tonight but I still have my long-term memory.

Review: An excellent rendition of Batman and Catwoman working together without so much trust as in the old series. It also made Catwoman more of a thief than before, but kept her on both sides of the law. It was along the lines of You Scratch My Back's relationship with Nightwing, but this time with Batman. It was also great to see Batman act alone for once. Any other characters would have been pointless attractions for younger viewers. Thomas Blake made an interesting turn from the comics to the screen, but I still would have liked to see him in some sort of Cat-Man costume. Hopefully he'll return in his Orange and Yellow outfit.

The animation wasn't that bad, but Catwoman smiled one heck of a lot. It worked to her advantage rather than Batgirl because Selina's eyes look cruel whereas Barbara's are visible and pleasant. The constant smiling gave her a cavalier attitude to the grim surroundings and events, but it didn't work at some points.

The interrogation of the Cultist by Batman was extremely brilliant. The idea of Batman taking the thug to the Batcave to interrogate him rather than do the same thing on a rooftop just added a further sense of creepy-ness.

Overall, the idea of Batman versus a cult was great and well handled for television viewing. The fight with the cat in the ring was a nice added touch but possibly some more cult actions like self-sacrifice for their beloved leader like in Off Balance might have suggested a more brutal cult.
