Review

This episode was worthy of the old BTAS series! It was beautifully done with the sound editing with the silenced fight, the 'footsteps mode' and the voices in Bruce's head. The script was wonderful, making Bruce more of a character than an old man back at the cave helping out. His paranoid delusions in the hospital were wonderfully scripted and acted on Conroy's part. His glimpse of his past at the theater and police headquarters were great too.

The whole idea behind Shriek was great, but maybe not as plausible for the old series, and that's probably why it works so well in the future setting. The final battle with the lack of sound was excellent, and the very end where Shriek is defeated is classic, especially the camera shots of all of the noise, and then the feedback 'bleeeee' noise over Batman and Ace made it even better.

The animation was very well done too, with the characters seeming more in proportion than some of the other episodes. Shriek's design was well done, and I was quite surprised that his outfit didn't change in proportion considering how it was a robotic structure, and those haven't been handled too well before. Overall, this is one of the very memorable moments of Batman Beyond.
