Expect New Challenges in Justice League's Second Season
By Jim Harvey
08-26-2002

Toon Zone was able to talk to Stan Berkowitz about the upcoming season of Justice League, slated for a November start date. Stan Berkowitz has written such episodes as "War World" for the hit animated series.

Toon Zone: With season one under your belt, do you find that you might have to up the ante for the second season?

Stan Berkowitz: With most TV series, there is an upping of the ante from season to season. It's because the viewers expect more, and the creators would be bored if they just did the same old same old. I think this principle will hold true for Justice League.

Toon Zone: You now have the introduction of the main characters out of the way. Is this going to give you more opportunities, story wise, for the second season?

Stan Berkowitz: It will allow us to delve deeper into their psyches, and also allow us to spend more time with guest characters.

Toon Zone: Many fans are comparing this series to the previous Batman and Superman animated series. Do you think this is a fair comparison?

Stan Berkowitz: It's fair, because so many of the people who worked on those series are now working on this one.

Toon Zone: Who can we expect, guest star/voice actor wise, this coming season on JL?

Stan Berkowitz: I'd have to see a cast roster to name all of the guests, but off the top of my head, I can tell you that we've had Mark Hamill, Dana Delany, Robert Picardo, William Atherton, Clancy Brown and many others. More to come...

Toon Zone: What villains will be causing trouble for the Justice League this season? Will we see familiar faces?

Stan Berkowitz: Lots of familiar ones, and some new ones, including Dr. Destiny, Despero, Ichthultu, Eclipso, and an android similar to Amazo.

Toon Zone: Any teasers about some upcoming JL storylines?

Stan Berkowitz: With most of our stories, we try to take the viewers down unexpected paths; the more they know about the episode, the less unexpected the path will be.
