A mysterious international cosmic being of untold power, of which little is known, The Beyonder found himself most intrigued with Earth's concepts of good and evil. Ultimately deciding that he wanted to see which of the two is a stronger force, he told Madame Web to choose a hero worthy of leading the forces of good against those of evil. That hero was, of course, Spider-Man. Upon Spider-Man's victory in the "Secret War," The Beyonder returned Spider-Man to Earth only to find a threat that could destroy all reality - Spider-Carnage! Calling Spider-Men from different dimensions together, Spider-Carnage was defeated and he eventually retreated back to the cosmos.
