After suffering a deep depression following some traumatic events, including the collapse of his relationship with Mary Jane and growing hatred of Peter Parker, he suffered a mental break and began seeing images of The Green Goblin. Believing they were hallucinations, it turned out it was The Green Goblin - his father, Norman Osborn - reaching out to him from his dimensional prison. Norman eventually told Harry everything, including his identity as The Green Goblin and that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. After using the same gas his father used to become the Green Goblin, he went after his former loved ones but was captured and admitted to the Ravencroft mental rehabilitation institute.

Dedicated to bettering himself, he relapsed and attacked the wedding of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson before realizing that his friends do love him, and that Liz Allan was in-love with him. He then recommitted himself to getting better once and for all.
