Residents of the slums in Counter Earth, Naoko Yamada-Jones and her son Shane struggle to make ends meet while living under the thumb of the High Evolutionary. Peter first met Shane when he saved him from an attack by a faulty Machine Man. This led to Peter meeting his mother and, eventually, a place to stay during his time on Counter Earth. While Shane believes the newly-arrived Spider-Man is a force for good, Naoko is not so sure. Neither know Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
