Episode #12 - The Sins of the Father
Original Airdate - March 24th, 2001
When Karen O'Malley is captured by the High Evolutionary, Spider-Man and the rebels come to her rescue, storming Wundagore Castle and going head to head with the Knights of Wundagore. But all is not as it seems, because the High Evolutionary's interest in Karen is more than an attempt to defeat the rebels' cause -- it's personal.

Review:
We finally learn more about Spidey's supporting cast here on Counter Earth, but is it too late? The episode's sole purpose? To inform us that a member of the resistance is the Granddaughter of The High Evolutionary. As nice as it is to learn more about some of these characters, there's no real resolution nor does it feel as important as it should be, especially this late in the game.

On the positive side of things - it was nice to see X51 again! It's pretty awful that one of the most interesting characters is a robot, but he's much more likeable than all the rebels, the Beastials and the guest stars combined. Really, he totally is.

Given how important a role he's played in the series, The High Evolutionary was an utter waste here. There's a general rule that most folks like their bad guys aren't just evil for the sake of being evil, but as it stands, this character is simply bland in the lead villain role. There's nothing to care about. I believe this episode was supposed to flesh him out a little, and we see that, but it doesn't feel relevant. We learn why he likely hates the human population, but it contradicts his motivations set up in "World's Apart, Part Two."

In short, there's not too much to be found here, and this episode is too little too late, especially with what's coming . . .
