CHARACTERS - ETHAN BENNETT
Ethan Bennett
Voiced By: Steve Harris
First Appearance: "The Bat in the Belfry"
Position: Ex-Detective at GCPD
Bio (Official): If Bruce Wayne could call anyone his
best friend, Ethan Bennett is it. They've been friends since high
school. Whereas his partner, Detective Ellen Yin, sees things in
black and white, Ethan sees the grey in most everything – and is
more willing to allow The Batman to co-exist with the Gotham P.D. In
fact, he often finds himself pondering if this caped vigilante he is
chasing is actually helping the city.
Bio: When Chief Rojas ordered the entire police force to take
down every masked and costumed "freak" in Gotham, Bennett protested.
Saying he believed that The Batman was an asset and not a hindrance
to the city, he not only succeeded in ticking Rojas off, but it's
this trust and loyalty to The Batman that got Ethan fired; when,
during an interview Chief Rojas was conducting, Ethan ran up and
called foul on the Chief's claims that they single-handedly took
down Joker without The Batman's help, Rojas fired him then and
there.
Before he was even fired, however, Bennett had a worse experience
than he ever had on the job, when Joker played with his mind.
Hypnotizing him and making him believe that all it took was one bad
day to ruin a mans life, Bennett almost went insane before Yin and
The Batman were able to rescue him. Before being saved, however, he
was exposed to Joker's "Joker Putty" formula; inhaling it, Bennett
began immediately coughing, and Joker's formula took effect.
When "Joker Putty" touched a surface, it turned it to just that--a
moldable putty. When Bennett inhaled it, it infested his system,
turning his entire body, muscles, digestion, everything, to a
moldable substance.
As Clayface, Ethan broke out of Arkham to take down The Joker once
again. After doing so, he turned himself in to the police. Back in
Arkham, Ethan learned that a second Clayface was now in Gotham.
Escaping again, Ethan helped Batman and Robin take down the new
Clayface. Ethan was cured of his Clayface "disease" and is spending
the rest of his term in Arkham, awaiting release.

Clayface, in his bio.
