Mini-Review: As expected Cyborg was basically the key to saving Halo from Granny Goodness. I liked the quick explanation as to how his Mobius Chair upgrades have affected him. Halo debuting her rainbow aura was fitting and did provide a solution to the whole Anti-Life Equation mess. I admit it kind of felt a bit of an anti-climatic ending to this entire ordeal, but it was a decent enough way to offer some closure for this big Darkseid arc.

I also liked seeing Beast Boy going up against Gretchen, the fight got a bit brutal at times but it was enjoyable seeing Gar come out on top. The Granny and Gretchen merging scene was creepy enough and it did provide a decent enough explanation as to how there were two of them running around at the same time. Overlord also got a slightly bigger role, which was kind of nice but I was a bit disappointed none of the Female Furies showed up again, especially Barda. But other than that, no real complaints I guess.

As promised, Superboy lets Granny know Savage helped them defeat her. :p

All in all, a good episode which also worked well as sort of an end to Halo’s arc, and with Cyborg deciding to join the Outsiders. I also liked how they featured some of the characters we haven’t seen in action for a while, like Wonder Girl. It wasn’t much but I enjoyed it.

Mini-Review: The Anti-Life Equation continues to be a threat and it was kind of shocking seeing how many big characters were under its influence by the end of the episode. In regards to a recent discussion on these forums, if this was the season finale, this would definitely qualify as a cliff-hanger. But I am curious to see how (or if?) the heroes will find a way out of all this, or if something even worse is about to happen.

It was cool seeing Superman and some of the other members of the Justice League, even if briefly. Elongated Man was a pretty surprising addition. I never really considered him as a potential character for the series, but whatever. Kind of makes sense the League still needed a stretchy guy in their ranks. Though his contact with the Anti-Life Equation seems to have had an even worse effect than on the others.

The Team’s mission was fine but I kind of expected it to not go as planned. I liked the focus on some of the characters, like Conner and M’gann talking about some of the recent developments and how they kind of opened up some old wounds. Or how both Conner and Brion have sort of calmed down quite a bit considering how angry they were all the time in past episodes. Dick’s fever dream was pretty awesome. It was so cool seeing the original team in action again, complete with Wally. I think I enjoyed this a bit more than Gar’s hallucination which similarly included Wally and some video game-like graphics, though on the other hand the “Doom Patrol Go!” segment was still funnier.

Jefferson’s sub-plot was handled well enough I guess but I was expecting them to show at least a conversation between him and Virgil. It kind of felt like a missed opportunity or something. I did like the scene of Jefferson finding some happiness with his daughters though. After all he’s been through this season I wonder what’s next for him, in the last few episodes.

I also liked Savage’s brief appearance. Kind of reminded me a little of Luthor (and part of the Legion of Doom) asking the Justice League for help on JLU, but the circumstances and speeches were a bit different. I don’t know if Savage had any idea the young heroes would also fail, since that wouldn’t really help him anyway. I agree with others that Cyborg might be capable of playing a role in negating the Anti-Life Equation, but we’ll see how that plays out. There might even be some magic involved in there, as others suggested. Maybe a combination, like with the Starro-Tech back in season one (since the ending to this episode felt like a callback to that whole ordeal, in a way).

Review: As the log-line said, the betrayals would come into play but with this show you never know which betrayals they’re talking about, or if any new ones will be introduced in this story. But we got them here!

Jefferson finding out the truth about Batman’s long-term plan was handled well enough. I don’t think he exaggerated or anything given what he learned. Same goes for the other heroes present there. I liked how we saw a few different points of view on all of this, and each one had some pretty valid points.

The stuff with Tara and Deathstroke was pretty cool. It’s nice seeing some sort of background on her, though I do think Slade might be lying about some of that stuff. Still I liked how he helped her, I am sure he doesn’t want anything in return for all this. Her arc seems to be going in the traditional betrayal story-line, but it remains to be seen how it will all play out. To be fair, even if her betrayal is legit, this is still a different enough setup to make it stand out some more from the other animated projects that featured her.

I liked how they tried explaining the Anti-Life Equation here, something I don’t think was really ever attempted in other projects. Halo being the key to all this was alluded to in the last episode, but I still wasn’t sure what exactly she had to do. But I think they did offer a decent enough explanation to all this.

Helga’s plan was honestly kind of getting on my nerves, it lasted a bit too long but they did get the point across as to how crazy she really is. There were a few things in there I didn’t predict but for the most part it wasn’t really all that surprising. What surprised me the most was probably the reveal of Granny Goodness and Gretchen Goode standing in front of each other. Metron was right, who would have expected something like this.

It was kind of cool seeing the villains at odds with each other. I liked the little we saw of Ultra-Humanite. I was expecting him to play sort of a bigger role, but whatever. The plot advanced more with Gretchen getting involved. I was a little surprised how scared Savage was towards the end (unless I mis-interpreted his reaction), it just goes to show you how much of a threat Darkseid is now.

All in all, a good episode with some pretty interesting developments. I imagine we haven’t seen the last of these either – not only the threat of the Anti-Life Equation, but also Terra or the fall-out to more learning about the Anti-Light and their plans.

Review: It was nice seeing Cyborg again, and be relevant to the story as well. His transformations here were pretty creepy though not quite as horrific as his initial accident was shown. It’s kind of cool he’s getting better now that he’s freed from under the Father Box’s control, and he even tried reconciling with his dad.

Violet’s sub-plot was handled pretty well. I admit I wasn’t even expecting her to visit Gabrielle’s family. I liked how her mother still understood part of what happened and appreciated her efforts, in a way.

Pretty cool seeing more of Atlantis. I think it’s hilarious how we really have an “unnamed meta teen” as a character, and the others call her as such. But to be fair, they did offer a decent enough explanation as to why she hasn’t revealed her name yet. Seeing Kaldur’s family was nice, and I also liked the quick appearance of King Orin. The big reveal of Kaldur and Wyynde being in a relationship was cool. It was a quick scene and they didn’t dwell on it too much (and I don’t think there was really any reason to do so), but they got the point across.

It was also nice seeing a different side of Harper. That was probably the most realistic plot in this episode. It was handled well enough, too.

Metron was a pretty cool addition. I liked how arrogant he was, didn’t really think of him as annoying or anything. And of course he offers a kind of cryptic hint in regards to one of the villains this season. I also liked the Source Wall (was I the only one looking for a cameo of Galactus, like on Justice League Unlimited? :p). The heroes bumping into Superman was kind of random, though I appreciated seeing him again and the short talk he had with Conner.

Not much from Brion this episode, but he still kind of made his presence felt. And Tara’s arc seems to be headed in a different direction, which is fine with me. But we’ll see how well it will play out.

All in all, a pretty great episode. Kind of crowded but I think they managed to get the most out of each sub-plot. Each one had some pretty cool and more dramatic stuff in it.

Mini-Review: A good episode, and I liked the focus Beast Boy is getting recently and his role as leader. His team is doing a decent job, despite Luthor’s plans, though admittedly they had some help they didn’t know about during their second mission. The scene with the parents trying to ground the younger members was handled pretty well. They all had some decent enough arguments and it’s nice they managed to find some kind of common ground there.

I wasn’t expecting Violet to confess her secrets this soon. Brion and Tara’s reactions seemed pretty understandable. Tara’s was a little more interesting though, since we don’t know that much about her but she seemed to recover quickly enough to keep spying on her team-mates. I presume Violet ran away at the end of the episode, but we’ll see. I guess she could leave with Helga Jace to the latter’s mentor.

As obnoxious as I find Luthor and Godfrey in these episodes, I have to admit they have some pretty good chemistry and it’s cool how they can annoy each other as well. I’m sure nothing bad could ever come out from a meta-human registration act. I liked how Jay Garrick pointed out that kind of stuff didn’t work in the 50s, either.

I thought Batman’s plan of setting up the Anti-Light was pretty cool back when it was introduced, but since then things seem to have taken a darker turn. The parallels between Batman and Luthor were pretty scary and I kind of hope they won’t become even more unpleasant. I’ll admit the Anti-Light’s plans are elaborate and all that, but that’s about all I can praise them for. I also find it funny how pretty much each time we see them, Wonder Woman also tries reasoning with them but nothing has changed so far.

It’s a minor thing, but I liked how they included some characters who barely got any screen-time so far, like Troia. And Looker was introduced, I didn’t realize that was supposed to be her until I checked her name in the credits. A pretty cool surprise. And Matches Malone was pretty amusing. All in all, I think this was more entertaining than last week’s episode.
