Simmons Talks Static Shock's "Duped" and "Jimmy"
by Jim Harvey

Toon Zone was able to catch up with Chris Simmons who was able to provide some more information on two highly anticipated Static Shock episodes. Check out what Chris Simmons has to say:

Jimmy:
First off, "Jimmy" is our "issue" episode, in this case, guns in schools. Jimmy is a loner kid who's being harassed by BMOC types. Virgil and Richie try to help him with the bullies, as well as try to get Jimmy to emerge from his shell. But things spiral out of their control, leaving Jimmy to feel that he has no other choice but to solve his troubles with a gun. The episode makes great points about how important it is to look for warning signs in situations of this nature, as well as bring home the point that it's important to seek out help in the form of teachers, parents and guidance conseulors as early as possible. It may be heavier than the average STATIC episode, but the messages it delivers makes it a home run, nevertheless.

Duped:
"Duped" is a fun romp, co-starring BACKSTREET BOYS bad boy A.J. McLean. Rubberband Man, as fans of the show should know, is Adam Evans, aspiring producer. When A.J. hears one of Adam's beats, he wants to endorse Adam for a record contract of his own. But Replikon, a new Bang Baby with the power to morph into anyone, kidnaps A.J., steals his identity and makes life difficult for Adam, his bitter rival. Static's got his hands full trying to stop Replikon and straightening out this mess for Adam. This turned out to be big fun, with not only A.J. McLean doing fine voice work, but great guest star turns like Coolio (as Replikon) and Malcolm-Jamal Warner, as well!!"
