SLAVE LABOR GRAPHICS

Slave Labor Graphics announced in June 2005 that it will be publishing a series of Disney-licensed, bi-monthly Gargoyles comic books that would officially continue the story of the acclaimed 1990s animated series. Gargoyles #1 was released on June 21, 2006 and promptly sold out, and the comic would remain a top-seller for its entire run. The Gargoyles comic was written by series co-creator Greg Weisman and continued the storyline of the animated television series from the first two seasons, supplanting the ABC Network's third season, Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles, which Weisman considers to be out of continuity save for the third season's first episode. A spin-off comic mini-series written by Weisman, titled Gargoyles: Bad Guys, also saw print from Slave Labor Graphics. Both Gargoyles and Gargoyles: Bad Guys are officially canon and continue the story of Goliath's clan.

Despite being a success, these Gargoyles titles would be short-lived. In late 2008, it was announced that due to Disney increasing its fees, Slave Labor Graphics would not be renewing the Gargoyles license. Eight of the twelve issues of Gargoyles were released as single issues, and four of the six Gargoyles: Bad Guys issues released. The final four issues of Gargoyles and final two issues of Gargoyles: Bad Guys were later released in the comic trades collecting both series in 2009. Both series are no longer in print.
