INTRODUCING GARGOYLES

For a thousand years, a race of heroic creatures has been frozen in stone, the victims of human betrayal. Now, they awaken. Below is the Gargoyles series description, courtesy of Disney Enterprises, Inc.:

This show features a clan of nocturnal creatures known as Gargoyles that turn to stone during the day. The show focuses on a particular clan led by a gargoyle named Goliath. This clan lived in medieval Scotland where they helped protect a castle. One day they were cursed by a wizard to remain in their stone form until their castle "rose above the clouds." In the present day, billionaire David Xanatos purchases the Gargoyles' castle and has it reconstructed atop his New York skyscraper. The castle having thus "risen above the clouds", the six gargoyles of the clan awake. In trying to adjust to their new world they are aided by a sympathetic NYPD officer, Elisa Maza, and quickly come into conflict with Xanatos. In addition to dealing with the gargoyles' attempts to adjust to modern New York, there are also various supernatural threats to their safety and to the world at large.

Co-created and co-produced by Greg Weisman, Gargoyles is the critically-acclaimed animated series from Walt Disney Animation which ran from October 1994 to February 1997, running for 78 episodes in total across both syndication and network television platforms. Gargoyles currently airs in reruns in numerous international markets, is available for purchase and rent on DVD and on digital formats, and to stream on Disney+.
