Press Release:
The World’s Greatest Superheroes Spend a Day on Boomerang
Justice League Unlimited to Air All Episodes In Order Starting Saturday, July 25 at 6 a.m. (ET)
This weekend, DC Comics most heroic characters will help you lose the summertime blues with a full-day marathon of the Cartoon Network original series
Justice League Unlimited. Presented on the commercial-free Boomerang network, this marathon features all 39 episodes of the series, aired in order, with an encore presentation of selected episodes. The action begins Saturday, July 25 at 6 a.m.
In Justice League Unlimited, the world’s greatest superheroes enlist some help from their friends to take a more aggressive approach to thwarting alien invasions, criminal threats and global conspiracies. Superman and the rest of the Justice League-which in the past included the Flash, Green Lantern, Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl-have come to realize that the universe might be best served by enlarging the group, being more proactive and coordinating more effectively. The group assembles an awesome collection of superheroes and brings them together aboard the Watchtower, the orbiting space station. It’s from this perch that Martian Manhunter monitors goings-on across the galaxies and assigns teams of superheroes to tackle problems.
But it isn’t always smooth sailing for the members of the expanded Justice League. Superheroes usually work alone and have powerful, and idiosyncratic, personalities, so conflicts inevitably arise. Like any co-workers, these people don’t always agree on the best way to solve a problem. But in the case of the new Justice League, these superheroes are dealing with civil wars, rogue criminals and rampaging monsters, so they must learn to work together.
“A Justice League Unlimited marathon is the perfect cure for the dog days of summer,” said Stacy Isenhower, senior vice president of programming and scheduling for Boomerang and Cartoon Network. “The action and excitement, along with the inspiring stories of working together, are great motivators for the back-to-school season.”
The marathon begins with the following episodes:
* 6 a.m. (ET): “Initiation” – A reluctant Green Arrow is asked to join the new Justice League. He, Supergirl and Captain Atom are dispatched on a mission to stop a rampaging nuclear monster in Asia.
* 6:25 a.m. (ET): “For the Man Who Has Everything” – Batman and Wonder Woman surprise Superman at the Fortress of Solitude, in order to bring the Man of Steel his birthday present. But when they arrive, he has been immobilized by a special “gift” that Mongul has delivered to him.
* 6:50 a.m. (ET): “Hawk and Dove” – Wonder Woman teams up with super-powered two brothers, one warlike, the other a pacifist, to stop Ares’ plans to escalate a European civil war into World War III.
* 7:15 a.m. (ET): “Fearful Symmetry” – Supergirl discovers that a series of nightmares she’s having about being an assassin may be far more than just a bad dream.
