Backstage
Visions In Sound is a Movie, TV and Video Game soundtrack program heard
every Friday from 3:20-5pm (ET) on CKMS 100.3FM (ckmsfm.ca for those
outside our listening area) in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I have been on
the air for over 7 years and have spoken to some of Hollywood's best
known composers. (John Powell, Murray Gold, Howard Shore, Harry Gregson-Williams,
Mychael Danna and many many others.)
The opportunity to speak to Lolita, Kristopher and Michael was a long
time coming. I had always been a fan of their music going back to Batman
- The Animated Series. I went to the Dynamic Music Partners website and
made an interview request. I waited several weeks and heard nothing and
I was about to resign myself to the fact that the request had probably
gotten caught in a spam filter or something. One day I was shocked to
find an e-mail stating that they would be pleased to speak to me. My
350th show was coming up and I was looking for an event, something that
would be different from my other milestone shows. An interview with the
three composers seemed like a perfect fit. I hope you find the interview
as informative as I did.
Now I'm sure you're asking "Why has the music been cut to 30 second
clips?" Believe me, if I could have presented you with the entire set of
music I would have. The composers requested that I edit the cues to 30
seconds. I believe it has something to do with the show being
rebroadcast online and having the full cues in the show would be like
file sharing. If you would like to see a release of their music visit
the Dynamic Music Partners website and let them know. They expressed to
me that they would love to release their music. However, there are some
factors that are keeping that from happening. It's been far too long
since the Rhino release of "Return Of The Joker". Let them know you want
to hear more!
