Observations:

Written by Frontier, edited by James Harvey

The Mars-based drama continues to generate some of the cartoon’s heftiest drama. I didn’t expect M’Gann’s apology was going to make much of a difference at this point, but Malafak is cold and I wonder if M’Gann is going to blame him for what happened to Conner.

Young Justice still delivers on legitimate surprises too. I was starting to suspect the Priestess was the murderer, but the resolution of this case reminded me of the culprit in Batman: The Long Halloween, except here the “crime” was more accidental and the culprit was far less messed up, although no more emotionally anguished.

And, what about J’em J’axx. His father is against him marrying the woman he loves, and then said woman ends up killing said father accidentally, goes into the sisterhood and pledges to celibacy out of guilt, and is then shuffled off to prison after saying she still loves him.. Brutal, and it seems like it doesn’t pay to be a Son of Saturn.

I guess on the plus side, now J’emm believes even more in erasing the system that lead to all this tragedy, and maybe he can start to make a difference.

There’s a lot to chew on here as the show continues to explore Mar’s society. You can understand why White Martians have such a chip on their shoulder when you see the kind of conditions they live in and how dismissive Green Martians are of them.

And thankfully Mars will have a future after Superboy is able to stop the Gene Bomb, but at the cost of his life. Superboy was apparently the target of the new time-traveler, who the Legion of Super Heroes are also after, and they placed a Kryptonite bomb on there to take him out. Why does this person from the future want Conner dead? And did the Legion save him and the others just don’t know about it yet?

And at the end of all of this? Poor M’gann. First the person who was going to officiate her wedding is sent off to prison for murder, and then her fiance ends up presumed dead. How does this keep happening to The Team’s OG female members?
