| A somewhat strange episode of JLU, because the enemy here has no character, yet appears to be invincible. It’s simply a big violent thing that likes to grow and destroy stuff. The villain does feel like a threat, if only because just about every member of The Justice League shows up. The highlight of this episode is easily The Atom. His character has a very dry sense of humor that the episode and the situation really needed. John C. The main flaw of this episode is the rather odd pacing. It’s typical of all of Warren Ellis’ work, as anyone who has read Ultimate Fantastic Four will agree to, but for animated show, pacing can completely ruin an episode. The ending was interesting and The Atom raised a good point. It’s pretty self-explanatory. All in all, it was an average episode, made better by sharp wit from The Atom. John C. McGinley is absolutely perfect for this character. The Atom: “Amazing. Show him a weapon which destroyed its creators and every other thing it saw and he wants to play with it. What’s to stop history repeating itself here on Earth?” |
