EPISODES - "SACRIFICE"

Beware The Batman
#10 - Sacrifice

Original Airdate - September 28th, 2013
Anarky returns once again to challenge Batman – but this time, his plan is far more deadly. Stealing a valuable object from the League of Assassins, Anarky pins the blame on Batman. At the same time, Anarky informs Batman that he knows where he can find the League. Although he knows it's a trap, Batman goes with Katana anyway. As it turns out, Anarky has led both Batman, Katana, League leader Lady Shiva and her ninja assassins to a building that handles rare and deadly diseases. Once inside, Anarky releases one of the airborne viruses in the building. Now Batman and the others have to find a way to escape before being killed. One more thing: if the virus gets out...Gotham is doomed!

Analysis by Yojimbo:

The only real things I enjoyed was Katana's banter with Anarky at the parking lot, Ralphy the Razor folding his cards, and Gordon doing the 'red tape tango' with Joyce Kilroy. Though I was intrigued when Lady Shiva implied Katana did in fact kill people while she was with the League of Assassins.

Additional commentary by Lerkero:

- Batman lays it on heavy with the morality stuff in the beginning. I can see Katana getting tired of that real fast. I hope the writers address it.

- Did they jump off a tall building and land on their feet? I know its a cartoon, but they should try and make it seem like Batman and Katana are at least a little human. A common theme has been probability of success. Well, I'm sure that bones will be broken if a human jumps from that height.

- Batman's morals sure do get the better of him. If Anarchy wasn't into playing around he could have easily killed Batman and Katana with that surprise explosion instead of warning them about it. Good luck reforming that guy to not be a criminal in the future.

- Couldn't Katana have just cut down the ladder? Her sacrifice seems unnecessary in that situation. She saw how strong the ninjas were and fighting them would have been meaningless.

- What did Lady Shiva gain by fighting Batman at that point? Her escape was not yet guaranteed. Also, Batman should know not to handcuff only one arm. Both arms should be tied up to avoid an escape attempt.

- Oh wait, sharp blades can't hurt the large invulnerable ninjas but a couple of kicks from Batman and they're knocked out?

This episode was not too enjoyable. Inconsistencies and bad decisions all around. At least the police drama was decent. I'm liking the evolution of Gordon.
