EPISODES - "INSTINCT"

Beware The Batman
#11 - Instinct

Original Airdate - October 5th, 2013
Professor Pyg and Mr. Toad are back…and they've set their sights on Gotham's elite couture culture. Leaving clues that only Batman can decipher, they attack both a model and a clothing designer – encasing them in deadly traps. Although Batman and Katana are able to save the day, they miss Pyg and Toad's master plan: to destroy the yacht where the after-party for Gotham's Fashion Week is being staged. Every fashion icon in the world will be there... as well as Bruce Wayne!

Analysis by Yojimbo:

Pyg and Toad are easily my favorite recurring villains so far. The tea and biscuit scene was hilarious but twisted. Toad had some great lines in this one, "He's really quite good isn't her?", "Welcome to our summer lair", and "A cape in June?"

It was a nice nod that they acknowledged the "always see crime" thing. Sadm but so Batman. Also Batman saying "Bruce Wayne knows..." was funny and disturbing at the same time.

Katana's "Good work, Katana. Thank you, Batman" line was just as hilarious as Robin's in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Night of the Ninja."

No Alfred again. Meh.

Also, that uptown area by Queen Street Gallery is a magnet for bad stuff - Daedalus Boch and Junkyard Dog, Metamorpho, and now Pyg and Toad.

Loved the Cole Plastics nod to Jack Cole and the color motif nod to Plastic Man. I Wonder if it was just a reference or we might actually get Plastic Man on this show.

Just speculating, but I guess the League of Assassins, Ion Cortex, Lady Shiva, Ra's al Ghul, Dr. Burr, Cypher stuff will all culminate in episode 13 since that's basically the end of 'season one' and the other 13 will be a new arc.
