EPISODES - "EPITAPH"

Beware The Batman
#24 - Epitaph

Original Airdate - September 27th, 2014
At a rally to announce Harvey Dent's run for Mayor of Gotham, tragedy strikes when Bruce Wayne is assassinated by… Batman! Although this is impossible, only Alfred and Katana know it. Fortunately, Bruce survives, but instead of telling the world, Bruce decides it's better to stay dead as Batman hunts for his imposter. With all of Gotham now looking for Batman, Alfred and Katana don't think this is the greatest idea. But when the trail leads Batman to the true identity of the Bad Batman (Robin Atkin Downes), even Alfred and Katana can's stop Batman from bringing the imposter to justice.

Mini-review by Royal Rubble

An excellent episode of Beware the Batman, and that scene with Batman shooting Bruce Wayne was particularly well done.It leads to a great little fight scene with Katana, the not-at-all-surprising revelation that Bruce Wayne is alive, and the start of cool little mystery of who's actually under the cowl. The fake Wayne funeral scene was pretty intense too, and quite dark for a TV-PG show. The action scenes featuring Bad Batman had some great staging, though the inevitable Batman versus Batman fight scene really topped them all.

Lots of stuff happening towards the end of the episode - Dane Lisslow is under Deathstroke's control, which is an interesting twist. For one thing, it confirms Deathstroke isn't dead, which isn't that surprising, though I wonder what his master plan is this time. The ending was pretty riveting, what with Dane seemingly killed off and Dent coming one step closer to becoming Two-Face. Excellent stuff. And such an ominous ending, too.
