Bio: Just a regular high school student, Virgil Hawkins had his
fair share of problems. He wasn’t too high on Francis Stone’s (F-Stop)
list of students and he was constantly being saved by Wade. Deciding
that he was tired of sticking up for Virgil, Wade tells Virgil to join
his gang. Because of this, Virgil was present at the docks the night of
the Big Bang.
Virgil’s Bang Baby powers stemmed from his recent high
static-electricity levels. Feeding off that, Virgil became Static,
Dakota’s first superhero since “Soul Power.”
With his new powers, Static fought off countless Bang Babies and even
teamed up with Batman, Superman and the Justice League on several
occasions. Along the way he met Shaq, A.J. McClean and other celebrities
that always seemed to get involved with his adventures as Static.
Virgil’s father, Robert, found out about his double life, but understood
that he was given a gift. He worried about his sons well-being, but
never stopped him from being Static. In years after he found out, Robert
even helped Virgil cover for his mess-ups when he was around his sister,
Sharon.
When Dakota was exposed to the cure for the Bang Baby syndrome, Static,
alongside every other Bang Baby in the city, began to lose his powers.
When Ebon stole the last canister of Bang Baby gas and attempted to
create an even larger “big bang” than the last, Static and Gear
intervened. In the process, Static and Gear were the only two Bang
Babies left after being exposed to the gas for a second time; Ebon and
Hotstreak inhaled too much of the gas and became one giant Bang Baby.
With powers even greater than before, Static and Gear were able to take
Ebon and Hotstreak down—but whether they remained gone is another story.
Static’s team consists of his friend Richie Foley as “Gear”, a late Bang
Baby bloomer, and Shenice Vale as “She-Bang”, a genetically enhanced
girl.
In later years, Static joined the Justice League Unlimited. Alongside
Warhawk, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Superman and Batman (Beyond), Static
continued his fight well into the future.
