First Look At Superman In “Justice League: War,” Warner Home Video At New York Comic-Con

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has provided The World’s Finest with a new image from the upcoming Justice League: War animated feature, along with additional updates concerning the studio’s presence at the New York Comic-Con 2013. The new image from the upcoming direct-to-video Justice League: War animated feature spotlights a first look at Superman, along with appearances by Batman and Green Lantern. The upcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie title, scheduled for release come Early 2014 from Warner Home Video, will be an adaptation of the “Justice League: Origin” storyline recently published by DC Comics. “Justice League: Origin,” written by Geoff Johns with artwork by Jim Lee and Scott Williams, kicked off the comic publisher’s current ongoing “The New 52” comic-line initiative. Main cast details for Justice League: War include Jason O’Mara as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Superman, Michelle Monaghan as Wonder Woman, Christopher Gorham as The Flash, Justin Kirk as Green Lantern, Shemar Moore as Cyborg, Sean Astin as Shazam, and Steve Blum as Darkseid. Jay Oliva is the director for Justice League: War, with Heath Corson adapting the original “Justice League: Origin” comic book storyline.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment brings a fanboy buffet of super hero-inspired presentations to New York Comic Con this week, October 10-13, with the spotlight covering several exciting upcoming releases: the highly-anticipated animated film, Justice League: War; a star-studded salute to Superman’s 75th Anniversary, including the premiere of a Zack Snyder/Bruce Timm-produced animated short; the World Premiere of an all-new documentary, Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics; new revelations from Batman: Arkham Origins, the next installment in the blockbuster videogame franchise; insightful Warner Archive Collection panels on both Alex Toth and classic, yet forgotten TV super heroes; and Warner Archive Collection’s special Friday night panel featuring Batman: The Brave and the Bold at The Paley Center for Media.

Join a star-studded panel covering the gamut of Supes’ incarnations as they discuss the beloved character’s many personifications, impressive history, and ongoing relevance within society and entertainment. You won’t want to miss the World Premiere of a special 75th Anniversary animated short created by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and Superman: The Animated Series producer Bruce Timm (who will be on-hand to present the short). Warner Home Video Unveils Assorted Superman, DC Comics-Themed Home Video Collections

Warner Home Video has announced a trio of home video releases featuring Superman and assorted DC Comics characters. The upcoming collections are repackaged DVD home videos releases featuring episodes of Superman: The Animated Series and assorted direct-to-video animated movies. The Superman Triple Feature and Superman Double Feature DVD titles will hit shelves on October 1st, 2013 – tying into the upcoming home video release of the recent live-action theatrical film Man of Steel, and DC Comics Super Hero Movie 3-Pack will street two weeks later on October 15th, 2013. Superman Triple Feature
Release Date: October 1st, 2013

Descriptions: First, timeless characters and innovative storytelling unite to create a powerhouse collection of episodes as Superman faces off with four formidable foes to defend his adopted home. Then, embittered by Superman’s heroic successes and soaring popularity, Lex Luthor forms an alliance with the powerful computer/villain Brainiac. Lastly, Survivor of distant, destroyed Planet Krypton, young Clark Kent grows to manhood on Earth, aware of superpowers he vows to use for the benefit of his adopted planet.

Suggested retail price is $14.98. Superman Triple Feature, which will feature any bonus features found on the original single-disc DVD releases of these titles, is slated to street October 1st, 2013.

Descriptions: First, the Man of Steel rescues an ill-fated mission to the Sun (sabotaged by Lex Luthor) and, in the process, is oversaturated by radiation – which accelerates his cell degeneration. Sensing even he will be unable to cheat death, Superman ventures into new realms – finally revealing his secret to Lois, confronting Lex Luthor’s perspective of humanity, and attempting to ensure Earth’s safety before his own impending end with one final, selfless act. New “DC Comics Super-Villains: Superman – Worlds At War!” DVD Compilation Announced

Warner Home Video has released initial details for a new two-disc DC Comics Super-Villains: Superman – Worlds At War! DVD compilation release, drawing episodes from Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. The DVD release, hitting shelves September 24th, 2013 with a MSRP of $19.97, features thirteen episodes spotlighting assorted space-based villains. This is the latest in a series of special compilation and budget-themed DVD releases from Warner Home Video starring popular DC Comics characters. The Hub Network Schedules Special “Superman: The Animated Series” Marathon

The Hub Network has scheduled a special Superman: The Animated Series marathon for Friday, June 14th, 2013 beginning at 4pm (ET/PT). The two-and-a-half hour marathon will air episodes from the classic 1990s Superman: The Animated Series cartoon, which adapted the comic mythos of the famous DC Comics character. Episodes focusing on Superman’s origin and his Kryptonian heritage will be featured during the marathon. The marathon is a promotional tie-in to the theatrical feature Man of Steel, arriving in theatres on June 14th, 2013. Complete episode specific details for the marathon can be found below, as well as a special promo made specifically for the event. The video is available in the MP4 format.

4:00pm (ET/PT) – “Last Son of Krypton, Part One”
With destruction raining down on the planet Krypton, Kryptonian scientist and Council member Jor-El uses the precious remaining moments to secure superbaby Kal-El in a rocket that will spirit him to an uncertain future on Earth.

4:30pm (ET/PT) – “Last Son of Krypton, Part Two”
Young Clark Kent discovers the truth about who and what he is. Upon reaching adulthood, he assumes his birthright as the Man of Steel, and the legend of Superman is born in the city of Metropolis.

5:00pm (ET/PT) – “Last Son of Krypton, Part Three”
Superman thwarts a plot by Lex Luthor to sell the LEXO-SKEL SUIT 5000 to Kaznian terrorists, via their agent John Corben.

5:30pm (ET/PT) – “Blast from the Past, Part One”
Superman decides to release Mala, a Kryptonian criminal, from the Phantom Zone, but when Mala proves too power-hungry for this world, Superman tries to send her back. Mala escapes with the Phantom Zone Projector and releases Krypton’s most notorious traitor, Jax-Ur.

6:00pm (ET/PT) – “Blast from the Past, Part Two”

Intent on conquering the world, Jax-Ur and Mala send Superman into the Phantom Zone, and then destroy the Projector. As their decimating attacks begin, it’s up to Lois and Professor Hamilton to rescue the Man of Steel in time.

Superman: The Animated Series airs regularly Monday – Friday at 5:00pm (ET/PT) on The Hub, with additional airings throughout the week.
