Krypto Saves the Day!

Announced by James Gunn and Peter Safran in February 2025, Krypto Saves the Day! is a series of animated short stories inspired by the world of 2025’s Superman. Centered on the same mischievous Krypto seen in the film, these shorts follow the super-powered Kryptonian dog as he gets into trouble in family-friendly adventures separate from the main DCU continuity. Krypto Saves the Day! is currently in its second season as of Fall 2026.

The first season consists of four roughly five- to six-minute shorts, released individually rather. Season 1, Episode 1, “School Bus Scuffle,” debuted August 13, 2025, followed by “Halloween Havoc” on October 1, “Package Pandemonium” on November 28, and “Coastal Catastrophe” on April 18, 2026. Ryan Kramer wrote and directed the first three installments, while David Gemmill wrote and directed “Coastal Catastrophe.” The shorts are executive produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran and Sam Register, with Michael Baum serving as producer and Paul Fraser providing the music.

Krypto Saves the Day!‘s title pup was specifically designed to carry over the look and mannerisms of the live-action Superman version, including his distinctive single-ear-up appearance, and the shorts were created as standalone adventures rather than required viewing for the wider DCU. Season 2 launched September 10, 2026, with “Space Busted,” with another four shorts and expanding Krypto’s adventures beyond Metropolis, with appearances from Superman, Supergirl, Lobo, Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl and Lex Luthor.
