“Batman: Under The Red Hood” Feature Garners High Home Video Numbers

According to various home media retailing outlets and independent research, the recent Batman: Under The Red Hood direct-to-video animated feature has garnered impressive sales. The latest DC Universe Animated Original Movie title moved an estimated 140,000 DVD copies in its first week, and moved an impressive 115,000 in Blu-ray editions in the same timeframe, resulting in an estimated 255,000 home video units sold in its first sales week of August 1st, 2010. The animated feature hit the DVD sales chart at #3 in its first week, and dropped to a respectable #9 in its second week, showing the title should remain a steady performer for the home video market. In its second week, the week of August 8th, 2010, Batman: Under The Red Hood moved nearly 66,000 DVD copies and 45,000 Blu-ray editions. Keep in mind the sales numbers above do not take into account rental numbers, OnDemand numbers, or legal download numbers.
To compare, the previous “DC Universe Animated Original Movie” title Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths debuted with an estimated 205,500 DVDs and over 60,000 Blu-ray editions sold during its debut week in February 2010.

Warner Bros. Animations breakthrough series Batman Beyond comes to DVD for the first time in its entirety. Featuring DC Comics iconic hero, Batman, Batman Beyond: The Complete Series presents nearly 20 hours of animated action spread over 52 episodes, as well as all-new bonus featurettes and a 24-page, 8x 12 collectible booklet. Batman Beyond: The Complete Series will be distributed by Warner Home Video on November 23, 2010 as a nine-disc limited edition DVD set for $99.98 (SRP).Batman Beyond: The Complete Series centers on Terry McGinnis, an ordinary teenager … until his father is mysteriously murdered. Suspecting foul play at his father’s company, Wayne/Powers Corporation, Terry meets Bruce Wayne and learns of a secret identity hidden for decades. Now too old to don the cape and cowl as Batman, Wayne refuses to help so Terry does what any brash young kid would do: steal the Bat-suit and take matters into his own hands! Vowing to avenge his father’s death, Terry dons the high-tech suit tricked out with jetpacks, a supersensitive microphone and even camouflage capabilities in search of his father’s assassin. An all-star production team was headed by executive producer Jean MacCurdy and producers Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, Glen Murakami and Paul Dini. Writers on the series included Burnett and Dini, as well as Stan Berkowitz, Bob Goodman, Rich Fogel, Hilary Bader and John McCann.
Included in the beautifully custom designed package is a 24-page, 8x 12 collectible booklet with the inside perspective and artwork from the vaults especially compiled by DC Comics for this release.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released official press details for Batman: The Brave and The Bold – The Videogame earlier this year, and are available to view here, along with further details available here. WB Games presents, in association with DC Comics, a Wayforward game, Batman: The Brave and The Bold – The Videogame, hitting shelves September 7th, 2010 for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.
In continuing Batman: The Brave and The Bold news, DC Comics has announced the publisher will launch the new ongoing comic title The All-New Batman: The Brave and The Bold this November 2010, based on the acclaimed Batman: The Brave and The Bold Cartoon Network animated series. The first two issues will be written by Sholly Fisch, with art by Rick Burchett, and will feature Superman and Shazam. This new series is a relaunch of the currently published and recently canceled Batman: The Brave and The Bold comic title, which will ship its final issue in October 2010. The $47 million feature has grossed just $10.5 million during its current theatrical run. Synopsis: Out of the pages of the legendary comics and graphic novels steps Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin), a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort.
