“Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” Feature Debuts To High Home Video Numbers

According to various home media retailing outlets and independent research, the recent Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths direct-to-video animated feature was the top performer for Warner Home Video in its debut week, outselling both the home video releases of Warner Home Video’s The Informant! and The Box by roughly 50,000 units. The animated feature hit the DVD sales chart at #2 in its first week, selling an estimated 205,500 copies for the week ending February 28th, 2010. Additionally, the Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray release also moved nearly 60,000 estimated units in the same time period. Keep in mind the sales numbers above do not take into account rental numbers, OnDemand numbers, or legal download numbers.
To compare, the previous “DC Universe Animated Original Movie” title Superman/Batman: Public Enemies debuted with an estimated 198,000 DVDs sold during its debut week in September 2009.

Latest Cast Details For Upcoming “Batman: Under The Red Hood” Animated Feature
The Worlds Finest has confirmed that actor Wade Williams will play the part of Black Mask in the upcoming direct-to-video Batman: Under the Red Hood animated feature, the next title in the DC Universe Animated Original Movie line. Williams is best known for his role in the recent Prison Break series that aired on the Fox network.
The Batman: Under the Red Hood direct-to-video animated feature is directed by Superman Doomsday co-director Brandon Vietti, and features the voice talents of Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) as Batman, Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) as Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris (Justice League: The New Frontier) as Nightwing, John DiMaggio (Batman: The Brave and The Bold) as the Joker and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter film franchise) as Ra’s Al Ghul. Bruce Timm is the executive producer.
In related news, The World’s Finest can confirm recent reports that The Spectacular Spider-Man producer Greg Weisman pulled writing duties for the upcoming DC Showcase: Green Arrow animated short. The short is slated to be included on an upcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie home video release.

“Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” Home Video Release Crosses 400,000 Moved

Though unconfirmed at this time, a sequel to the Superman/Batman: Public Enemies direct-to-video animated feature is reportedly in production. Its impressive initial week sales and continued performance on the home video market is the purported reason for Warner Home Video to move ahead with a second Superman/Batman direct-to-video animated installment. As is standard practice, Warner Home Video will not comment on any animated feature that has not been announced as in production.
Additionally, The Worlds Finest is currently unable to receive confirmation from Warner Home Video or Warner Bros. Animation concerning a new Green Lantern direct-to-video animated feature. Reportedly set for release next summer, to tie in with the live-action Green Lantern 2011 theatrical release, the DC Universe Original Animated Original Movie title will apparently focus on different members of the Green Lantern Corps. A new Green Lantern animated series is also rumored to be in production for Cartoon Network, with an initial episode order of 26 episodes, but also remains unconfirmed by Warner Bros. Animation at this time.
Green Lantern: First Flight, the first Green Lantern direct-to-video animated feature released by Warner Home Video under the DC Universe Animated Original Movie banner, has sold an estimated 306,000 DVD copies to date since hitting shelves in July 2009.

Based on the animated series of the same name, Batman: The Brave and The Bold The Videogame is an action-adventure videogame set for release this Autumn for the Wii and Nintendo DS consoles. In the game, fans play alongside Batman and many of his allies in the DC Universe to take on dozens of popular villains. Players can choose from iconic characters Robin, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle, along with drop-in heroes such as Aquaman, to help solve puzzles and fight foes.
While official cast and crew details are currently unavailable, but expected to be revealed closer to the street date for the Batman: The Brave and The Bold video game release for the Wii and Nintendo DS systems, many regular contributors to the Batman: The Brave and The Bold animated series are expected to reprise their respective roles for the game. “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies,” “Green Lantern: First Flight” Titles Repriced
Warner Home Video has announced that the home video releases for the recent direct-to-video animated efforts Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Green Lantern: First Flight will be repriced to a lower suggested retail amount beginning this week. Both Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Green Lantern: First Flight, two animated features under the popular DC Universe Animated Original Movie line from Warner Home Video, will find the suggested retail price for the single-disc DVD editions drop to $14.98. The reprice is a decrease from their respective $19.98 original price tag. These new prices go in effect March 16th, 2010.
