First Clip From “Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics” Documentary Released

Warner Home Video has provided the first clip from the upcoming Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics, an all-new documentary produced by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC Entertainment for Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and digital distribution this Friday, October 25th, 2013. The documentary, narrated by Christopher Lee, spotlights the pivotal role villains play in the lives of DC Comics’ biggest heroes. Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics, which will feature clips from DC Comics-based animated productions past and present, ties in to the publisher’s current villain-themed comic initiatives and storylines. Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics

Synopsis: Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics explores the thin line between right and wrong, the nature of evil and how super-villains can reflect society’s dark side as well as our own personal fears. It also offers keen insight as to the reasons why comic book fans are so fascinated by the very characters they hope to see defeated. Featuring interviews with such luminaries as directors Richard Donner (Superman), Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim) and Zack Snyder (Man of Steel), the film focuses on DC Comics’ most terrifying villains, including The Joker, Lex Luthor, Bane, Black Adam, Black Manta, Catwoman, Darkseid, Deathstroke, Doomsday, General Zod, Sinestro, the Suicide Squad, and more.

The clip from the film features director Guillermo Del Toro, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Office Geoff Johns and renowned writers James Robinson and Paul Dini discussing the mirroring of a hero’s characteristics in his fiercest villains.

The Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics documentary is directed by Scott Devine and J.M. Kenny, narrated by Christopher Lee, written by Scott Devine and Jack Mulligan, and produced by Scott Devine, J.M. Kenny. The documentary features appearances by Zack Snyder, Guillermo Del Toro, Kevin Conroy, Richard Donner, Andrea Romano, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, and others.

Details For January 2014 Issue Of “Beware The Batman” Title From DC Comics

DC Comics has officially announced details for the January 2014 issue of Beware The Batman, the new monthly comic series. The comic title is based on the new Cartoon Network animated series of the same name. Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogue gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld. The comic book will feature rotating artists and writers providing stories based on the continuity of the new DC Nation CG-animated cartoon. Continue below for further details.

Representatives for the October 2013 New York Comic-Con have started to release early details for scheduled events at the annual comic convention, including panel details and scheduled showings. A part of the initial wave of comic convention announcements is the New York Comic-Con preview showing of the upcoming Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics documentary. New York Comic-Con 2013 will be held October 10th – 13th, 2013 at the Javits Center in New York. The upcoming documentary, narrated by Christopher Lee, spotlights the pivotal role villains play in the lives of DC Comics’ biggest heroes. Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics, which will feature clips from DC Comics-based animated productions past and present, ties in to the publisher’s current villain-themed comic initiatives and storylines.
