| Review Teen Titans is a damn weird show. Watching episodes like this and then expecting to take the characters seriously in the next episode is a trick that the writers seem to have mastered. These comedy episodes aren’t often highly praised, but I find them to be some of the best episodes the show has to offer. To say this episode ranks up there with the likes of “Fractured” or the original “Mad Mod” is a lie, it was a bust your gut funny affair, but proved entertaining all the same. The main problem lies in its pacing, the episode seemingly took forever to get where it was going. It took forever to lead up to the presumable massive Teen Titans fights that I love so much, but no, Robin went Batman on Mumbo and ended it with a single robinarang. I’ve always thought that the show’s main strengths lie in it’s characters, and found that since they disposed of Slade that the villains have become a little lacking. Mumbo has quickly become a favorite, and I hope we see him again. After some truly poor villains, one of which looks to be the main villain of the season, lord knows we could use more quality villains. The animation was awesome throughout. Lotto Animation prove to be the masters when it comes to Teen Titans. No complaints here. The singing scene was a little disappointing and again, doesn’t compare to the previous musical scenes of Mad Mod. The obvious highlight was Raven’s adorable performance as the bunny. It works on the same level as Baby And last but certainly not least, Beast Boy actually proved to be amusing with his turn as the phone. When there’s trouble you know to call! |
