“Batman: The Brave And The Bold” Animated Spin-Off Comic Series Manages Solid Sales
The ongoing Batman: The Brave and The Bold comic series, which premiered in January 2009, has managed respectable sales since its debut issue. While sales numbers have fallen since the first issue was released nearly eight months ago, the series seems to be bottoming out in the mid-7000 copies sold range, the standard showing for a DC Comics “animated” title. Sales numbers for the first six issues of this series break down as follows, as seen below.
Batman: The Brave and The Bold #1
(January 2009) – 13,935
Batman: The Brave and The Bold #2
(February 2009) – 8,678
Batman: The Brave and The Bold #3
(March 2009) – 8,184
Batman: The Brave and The Bold #4
(April 2009) – 8,381
Batman: The Brave and The Bold #5
(May 2009) – 7,994
Batman: The Brave and The Bold #6
(June 2009) – 7,611
Despite sales dropping 54% since the first issue, a normal occurrence in the comic publishing business, DC Comics currently plans to continue publishing the series. A representative for DC Comics states that as long as the series continues to perform as it does, it will remain on shelves. Batman: The Brave and The Bold is currently selling in the same area as previous “animated” comics, including previous comic series The Batman Strikes and Justice League Unlimited.
