“Superman 75” Animated Short Nabs New York Comic-Con Debut, Upcoming DC Nation Short Update
The animated short “Superman 75,” by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and animation producer Bruce Timm, will debut this weekend at the New York Comic-Con, now currently underway. The convention – the East Coast’s biggest popular culture event spotlighting everything from comics to movies to television – is being held October 10th – 13th, 2013 at the Javits Center in New York. The animated short will premiere at the “Superman 75th Celebration” panel on Saturday, October 12th, 2013. The panel, scheduled to start at 12.15pm, will be held in Room 1D with Bruce Timm in attendance to introduce the animated short. The animated short will fall under the DC Nation umbrella. As the most recognizable superhero in the world, Superman has flown high in film, TV, radio, animation, video games and, of course, comics for 75 glorious years. Join a star-studded panel covering the gamut of Supes’ incarnations as they discuss the beloved character’s many personifications, impressive history and ongoing relevance within society and entertainment. You won’t want to miss the World Premiere of a special 75th Anniversary animated short created by Man of Steel Director Zack Snyder and “Superman: The Animated Series” Producer Bruce Timm (who will be on-hand to present the short). DC Comics Co-Publisher Dan Didio and Mike Carlin, Creative Director/Animation, DC Entertainment will anchor the panel.
After its New York Comic-Con debut, the “Superman 75” animated short will then officially debut on Cartoon Network. The short will have its network premiere on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at 6:58pm (ET/PT), followed by a special encore presentation during the DC Nation programming block on both Saturday and Sunday for the October 19th – 20th, 2013 weekend. The hour-long block airs each weekend morning starting at 10:00am (ET/PT). Additionally, the “Superman 75” animated short is slated to be previewed on select online news outlets on Monday, October 14th, 2013.
Lastly, the “Superman 75” animated short will also be included on the Blu-ray and DVD home video release of the summer theatrical feature film Man of Steel, hitting shelves come November 2013, according to Warner Home Video representatives.
In other DC Nation news, The World’s Finest has exclusively learned that Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke are set to reunite on an upcoming Batman Beyond DC Nation animated short. While we can not currently confirm if the short will be a single-installment or the start of a series, we can confirm it is set to debut in 2014 during the 75th anniversary celebration for Batman. Cooke will take the design and storyboard lead on the short. Expect further details in the coming months.
