Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, published by DC Comics in 1989 as a one-shot graphic novel, was written by Brian Augustyn and featured artwork by Mike Mignola. The synopsis for the original Batman: Gotham by Gaslight graphic novel release is as follows:
In an age of mystery and superstition, how would the people of Gotham react to a weird creature of the night, a bat-garbed vigilante feared by the guilty and the innocent alike? The very first Elseworlds tale re-imagines the Dark Knight detective in Victorian times and pits him against the infamous murderer Jack the Ripper.
Expect further details on this forthcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie title during San Diego Comic-Con 2017, along with other titles in the line expected to be released in 2018. While the creative team and voice cast are unlikely to be revealed at this time, a rough release schedule is expected. A first look at Batman: Gotham by Gaslight will be included in the bonus features on the August 15, 2017 digital release and August 29, 2017 physical media release of Batman and Harley Quinn.
