Review: This updating of the classic Joker tale is fairly well pulled off, despite the lack of good animation. The story was well re-vamped from the original tale, including the addition of the minor Harley / Fake Harley subplot, and also an out of place, yet funny musical montage where Joker spends his cash. The whole episode is tongue in cheek, from Batman giving a thug a swirly at Penguin's club, to Joker's sanity test on Jack Ryder's program. The whole episode is a nice change from some of the darker stories of the series, and does bridge off from the idea that Joker is broke throughout the span of TNBA. The animation was off par, with some more bad staging and inconsistent character modeling. This episode could have been much better if they had sprung for some better animation work. No matter how many times I see this type of animation, I am always reminded on how the TNBA style didn't go over well with some of the studios. |
