Review:
Four weeks and no hiatus yet. But keep vigilant, friends! “The Fix” was another terrific episode, and penned by Weisman himself. Artemis has been my favorite character in the series since she appeared so it was great to see another episode focusing directly on her. We may have gone literally inside Kaldur’s head, but I feel that we really spent the entirety of the episode inside Artemis’. Just watching as “Tigress” eats away at her, and yet she hasn’t lost herself. As all this goes on, two conspiracies seem to be unraveling. While we didn’t see Sportsmaster and Cheshire this week, on the other side of things, Nightwing’s secret is now out among Lagoon Boy and Superboy at least. M’Gann knows, and it’s only a matter of time before everyone else hears. But we’re also at the beginning of the end for our deep cover agents. How much longer can Artemis keep her cover? When M’Gann finishes repairing Kaldur’s mind, Black Manta intends to kill her. Now I don’t think this show is going to kill M’Gann off, and while I can see some scenarios that would allow her to escape and for Artemis and Kaldur to keep their cover, the suspense of the situation is still on high octane.

Last week it felt like we were seeing a few in The Light start to really be humanized. That trend continues here because, well, Black Manta really seems to genuinely care about his son. What will happen when he discovers that Kaldur was never on his side? I don’t know the character in the comics all that well, so I have no idea what to expect here. I’m not sure if we’ll see a Norman Osborn kind of reaction, but who knows?

I did not trust Green Beetle last week, and I trust him even less now. Sure, he volunteered his thoughts. And he just now managed to fix Blue Beetle’s scarab. Uh huh. I’ll keep any speculation to myself now, but if Blue has been legitimately fixed, I’ll drink nothing but bottles of Reach for two years straight.

Speaking of Reach, when my brother and I watched the episode together, we had a ball making fun of that well done commercial. When G. Gordon Godfrey appeared, I began hoping that Glenn Beck would get a deal to appear in Gatorade commercials. So what else is there? Reach Red Bull? Reach Whiskey? … well, I suppose Reach additives in an alcoholic beverage would defeat the purpose. It would be kind of funny if alcohol and drugs were the cure to the Reach additive…. a shame Tony Stark is a citizen of another universe, he’s currently Earth 52’s only hope. Unless Roy Harper becomes the junkie the comics turned him into, drinks fifty shots of Irish Car Bombs before snorting up some nose candy and going straight at the Reach mothership! …. My apologies for the tangent, but yeah, that commercial was really well done.

Great episode, looking forward to next week.
