Estimated Sales Numbers For First Issue Of “Beware The Batman” Comic Series
The first issue of the ongoing Beware The Batman comic title from DC Comics managed impressive sales for an all-ages title, even outselling some of the publisher’s mainstream titles. The comic title is based on the new Cartoon Network animated series of the same name. The first issue of Beware The Batman, which hits shelves in October 2013, sold an estimated 17,850 copies in North America. Please note these numbers do not take digital or newsstand sales into account. The issue featured a story by Ivan Cohen with artwork by Luciano Vecchio.
Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogue gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld. The new ongoing comic book will feature rotating artists and writers providing stories based on the continuity of the new DC Nation CG-animated cartoon.
To compare, the first issue of Green Lantern: The Animated Series – based on the late animated series of the same name – debuted with 13,600 back in 2012. Additionally, Young Justice – based on the recent Cartoon Network series – moved 10,800 with its first issue in 2011.
