“Legion of Super Heroes In The 31st Century” Starts Multi-Issue Storyline
While issue #17, which is currently on stands, is an accessible stand-alone story, it will also include elements that will come into play over the following two issues, forming what Torres calls a “bigger drama.” Having been the regular writer for the series, Torres is able to tell stories that are more than the standard “done in one” variety.
Torres states that while each issue is a standalone tale, all three issues will work together to form an over-arching storyline called, “Flight Ring.” For fans interested in how Brainiac 5 will be handled, especially given his status at the end of the second season of Legion of Super Heroes, Torres says that while they will not be able to offer any in sight into where he went and what happened, due to time constraints, the character’s status will be addressed during these three issues.
Legion of Super Heroes In The 31st Century will then wrap up in November 2008 with a self-contained story in issue #20 written by Jack Briglio (Scooby-Doo). A second trade paperback collection of Legion of Super Heroes In The 31st Century, collecting issues #7 – 12, is still a possibility, according to DC Comics.
J. Torres is scheduled to appear at the FanExpo convention at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, taking place August 22nd – 24th, 2008.

Update On “Batman: Gotham Knight,” “Teen Titans: Trouble In Tokyo” Soundtracks
The soundtrack, originally released on July 22nd, 2008, hit multiple snags during production, including an extended period of legal clearances for artwork and copyright trademarks before finally nailing down each respective release. However, despite the original release date, most businesses and consumers did not receive copies of either soundtracks until the second week of August 2008. The soundtracks, now having been officially released for nearly a month, is now readily available to purchase both at local stores and online.
The World’s Finest has reviews of both of the soundtrack releases, which you can read by clicking the thumbnails below.

More soundtracks based around DC Comics’ animated properties are currently in the works. Stay tuned for further updates.

Update On “DC Animation” DVD Sales And Comic Book Sales
The DVD release of Batman: Gotham Knight continues to hold strong in its third week or release, accumulating another 39,288 copies sold, bringing it’s total to almost 350,000 in sales. The title, which sold 80,515 copies in the second week of release, continues to be a strong performer thanks to the direct-to-video animated feature’s tie-in status with the theatrical hit The Dark Knight. Keep in mind the number does not take into account rental numbers, OnDemand numbers, or legal download numbers. Batman: Gotham Knight is expected to sell consistently throughout the remainder of the year, and receive additional sales interest when The Dark Knight arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD in December 2008.

Justice League Unlimited #45 – 8,434
The Batman Strikes! #45 – 7,118
Legion of Super Heroes In The 31st Century #14 – 6,565
Sales of the “DC Animation” comics are expected to dwindle for the remainder of the year due to multiple series cancellations. The Batman Strikes is scheduled to end with issue #50 in October 2008, with Legion of Super Heroes In The 31st Century following right behind it, ending with issue #20 in November 2008. DC Comics has no plans to currently revisit these titles in the near future, with the exception of possible collection releases.
