The Gotham Girls have swung into the World’s Finest! Follow the fearless females of Gotham City as they face-off against the best of the best! The vivacious vixens, which include Batgirl and her felonious foes – Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman – once again demonstrate that brains coupled with a little female ingenuity go a long way. The web-series was produced jointly by Warner Bros. Animation and Noodle Soup Productions.
Gotham Girls, an online Flash-animated series, debuted on July 27th, 2000, put the spotlight on Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Catwoman and other female Gothamites. Given this show was a spin-off of The New Batman Adventures, many familiar voices are present! Reprising their roles are Tara Strong (Batgirl), Arleen Sorkin (Harley Quinn), Diane Pershing (Poison Ivy), and Adrienne Barbeau (Catwoman).
Also, a five-part mini-series from DC Comics based on Gotham Girls was released in 2002-2003. Well-received by fans, the Gotham Girls comic quickly became another popular and acclaimed DC Comics animated series tie-in title!
Gotham Girls lasted for three seasons, 10 episodes each, with each episode released month-by-month. While the first two seasons featured primarily single-episode adventures, the third season told a ten-part, serial adventure. The series finale “Cold Hands, Cold Heart” aired in 2002, wrapped the series. The final episode was dedicated to the memory of Hilary J. Bader, script writer for numerous DC Animated series, and who had died in November 7, 2002, of breast cancer.
