“The All-New Batman: The Brave And The Bold” Sales Numbers For Debut Issue
The first issue of the The All-New Batman: The Brave and The Bold series from DC Comics, the revamped comic title based on the acclaimed Batman: The Brave and The Bold animated series, saw an increase in readership with its debut compared to the final issue of previous volume. The All-New Batman: The Brave and The Bold #1 saw sales improve nearly 40% over Batman: The Brave and The Bold #22, the final issue of the previous comic title based on the acclaimed animated series. Batman: The Brave and The Bold #22 arrived on shelves in October 2010, with The All-New Batman: The Brave and The Bold #1 following quickly behind with a November 2010 debut. Sales numbers for both issues can be seen below.

The Batman: The Brave and The Bold comic title averaged roughly 6,200 in sales in the last few months prior to the title’s relaunch.

“DC Showcase Animated Original Shorts” Home Video Release Retains Sales

According to various home media retailing outlets and independent research, the recent DC Showcase Animated Original Shorts collection, anchored by the exclusive Superman/Shazam!: The Return Of Black Adam animated short, held tight in its second week of sales, slipping just 50% from its previous week of sales. The release moved an estimated 35,000 DVD copies in its second week, along with an additional 12,000 units in Blu-ray editions in the same timeframe, resulting in an estimated 47,000 home video units sold for the week ending November 21st, 2010. This brings the two week total sales, combining both DVD and Blu-ray sales, to nearly 142,000 units moved.
Sales for direct-to-video animated features, especially titles featuring comic book-based characters, tend to fall an average of 60 – 70% in the second week, but the DC Showcase Animated Original Shorts collection managed to retain a higher numbers of sales in its second week. For comparison, the recent DC Universe Animated Original Movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse saw a 67% drop in sales for its second week, though has still moved over 500,000 DVD and Blu-ray units since its debut. Note the sales numbers above do not take into account rental numbers, OnDemand numbers, or legal download numbers.

“Young Justice” Special Event Grabs Cartoon Network Over 2.5 Million Viewers
Thanks to a substantial promotional push and high anticipation among viewers, the Young Justice special event presentation turned out major ratings for Cartoon Network. The following press details on the ratings have been provided by Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network. Continue reading below.
Among key programming highlights for the month, a one-hour special event presentation Young Justice (Friday, Nov. 26, 7-8 p.m.) scored significant gains compared to the same time period last year, particularly among older boys and teens. Boys 6-11 delivery (541,000) advanced by 15% and ratings (4.3) by 16%, and boys 9-14 delivery (466,000) advanced by 86% and ratings (2.6) by 85%. Kids 9-14 delivery (636,000) advanced by 70% and ratings (2.6) by 73%, while teens 12-17 delivery (463,000) advanced by 209% and ratings (1.9) by 217%. Young Justice also attracted more than 2,547,0000 viewers 2+, a dramatic 36% increase compared to the 2009 time period. Importantly, all kids and boys ratings and delivery grew by double digits from the first half-hour of the telecast to the secondincluding kids 6-11 delivery (716,000) by 16%, kids 2-11 delivery (969,000) by 13%, kids 9-14 delivery (636,000) by 13%.

–Young Justice doubled in ratings with Boys 6-11 (+14%), Kids 9-14 (+72%), Boys 9-14 (+80%) and Girls 9-14 (+54%) when compared to its year ago time period occupant Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins movie.
-Furthermore, Young Justice significantly improved its prior four week time period average (Batman: The Brave & The Bold/ Ben 10: Ultimate Alien) with Kids 6-11 (+18%), Kids 6-11 (+9%), Kids 9-14 (+44%), Boys 9-14 (+28%), Teens 12-17 (+73%) and Male Teens 12-17(+57%).

Tucker Comments on “Batman: The Brave And The Bold” DVD, Episode Update
The World’s Finest recently caught up with Batman: The Brave and The Bold Producer James Tucker to comment on the next DVD home video release of the acclaimed, latest animated series to headline The Dark Knight. The forthcoming release, Batman: The Brave and The Bold – Season One, Part Two, arrives on March 15th, 2011. Collecting the final thirteen episodes from the first season, the DVD title is not set to include any bonus material.

Despite that, Tucker remains confident that bonus material may be included in future Batman: The Brave and The Bold DVD home video releases. The official Cartoon Network website for Batman: The Brave and The Bold includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette on the series.
