for Cartoon Network and HBO Max
Buckle up for a second season of Cartoonito’s original preschool hit Batwheels for Cartoon Network and HBO Max. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, season one launched this fall to much fanfare and critical acclaim. Following its premiere, the series became Cartoon Network’s #1 original preschool series with Boys ages 2-5 this year and is the #1 original preschool show on HBO Max. Batwheels marks DC’s first-ever Batman preschool show featuring a high-speed, vibrant CGI-animated iteration of the Caped Crusader. Michael G. Stern and Simon J. Smith will both be upped to executive producers and continue to helm the animated action-comedy for season two.
“It’s been a joyride seeing how Batwheels resonated with audiences, and in such a short amount of time. It delivered everything we hoped it would in introducing Batman to the youngest viewers while allowing parents to enjoy their favorite DC Super Hero with their kids,” said Michael Ouweleen, president, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Discovery Family, and Boomerang. “Reimagining Batman’s iconic mythos for preschoolers using beloved and original characters has been a creative feat that we will definitely lean into as we expand into a second season.”
“Batwheelsgave preschoolers an animated Batman story to call their own,” said Sam Register, president, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios. “We’re excited to continue to build on this cool and fun world alongside our partners at Cartoon Network and HBO Max.”
A half-hour holiday special, “Holidays on Ice,” is now available to watch on Cartoonito on Cartoon Network and HBO Max. New episodes from the first season will continue to air next year.
Batwheels follows a group of young, sentient super vehicles— Bam (the Batmobile), Bibi (the Batgirl Cycle), Redbird (Robin’s racecar), Buff (the Bat-Truck), and Batwing (the Batplane)— as they help Batman, Batgirl, and Robin keep the streets of Gotham City safe. The series aligns with Cartoonito’s Humancentric Learning framework, teaching children about what it means to be a hero through demonstrating the value of self-confidence, friendship, and teamwork.
The series features Ethan Hawke as Batman, Gina Rodriguez as Catwoman, Jacob Bertrand as Bam the Batmobile, Xolo Maridueña as Snowy the Snowcrawler, Crew Kingston Miskel as Redbird, Madigan Kacmar as Bibi, Noah Bentley as Buff, Lilimar as Batwing, Kimberly D. Brooks as The Batcomputer, Mick Wingert as Moe, AJ Hudson as Duke Thomas/Robin, and Leah Lewis as Cassandra Cain/Batgirl among others. Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons), Michael G. Stern (Doc McStuffins), and Simon J. Smith (Penguins of Madagascar) are executive producers and Steven Fink of Bang Zoom Ltd. serves as producer. Based on characters from DC, Batwheels is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Animation services provided by Superprod Studio and Snowball Studios.

Kevin Conroy Passes Away At Age 66
Kevin Conroy, the beloved actor renowned the world over for his iconic portrayal of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series and in countless other projects, has died. Diane Pershing, the voice of Poison Ivy in Batman: The Animated Series and close friend of Conroy, shared news Nov. 11, 2022 on Facebook stating Conroy passed away on Nov. 10 after battling cancer. Warner Bros. has released a statement about the adored actor’s passing, which can be seen below:
PREEMINENT VOICE OF BATMAN, PASSES AWAY AT AGE 66
Actor Kevin Conroy, the most beloved voice of Batman in the animated history of the character, died Thursday at age 66 after a short battle with cancer.
A noted stage, film and television performer, Conroy rose to unparalleled voice acting fame as the title character of the landmark Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1996). He would establish never-to-be-broken records as the quintessential voice of Batman, bringing the super hero to animated life in nearly 60 different productions, including 15 films – highlighted by the acclaimed Batman: Mask of the Phantasm; 15 animated series, spanning nearly 400 episodes and more than 100 hours of television; as well as two dozen video games. Conroy was also featured as a live-action Bruce Wayne in the Arrowverse’s 2019-2020 “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.
In recent years, Conroy was a notable fixture on the Con circuit, greeting fans with the same warmth, respect and enthusiasm they reserved for him.
“Kevin was far more than an actor whom I had the pleasure of casting and directing – he was a dear friend for 30+ years whose kindness and generous spirit knew no boundaries,” said Emmy Award winning casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano. “Kevin’s warm heart, delightfully deep laugh and pure love of life will be with me forever.”
“Kevin was perfection,” recalled Mark Hamill, who redefined the Joker playing opposite Conroy’s Batman. “He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”
Born on November 30, 1955 in Westbury, New York, and raised in Westport, CT, Conroy began establishing himself in the acting community while under the tutelage of John Houseman at The Julliard School – where he studied alongside the likes of Christopher Reeve, Frances Conroy, and his roommate Robin Williams.
Conroy began his career following his love of the theatre, keeping him on stage in both New York and at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. The actor received rave reviews for his starring performances in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Public Theater, Eastern Standard on Broadway, Arthur Miller’s The Last Yankee, and in the title role of Hamlet at the 1984 New York Shakespeare Festival. In addition, he performed in films and television – most notably in the mid-1980s when he had recurring roles on Dynasty, Tour of Duty and Ohara; successful runs on soap operas Search for Tomorrow and Another World; and guest roles on popular series like Cheers, Murphy Brown, Spenser: For Hire and Matlock.
But it was his incomparable, nuanced performance as the voice of Batman that put Conroy on the map – and the fans’ radar – when Batman: The Animated Series debuted on September 5, 1992. From that point on, Conroy would forever be linked to the Dark Knight – in TV series like Batman Beyond and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited; films ranging from Batman: The Killing Joke and Batman: Gotham Knight to Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero and Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman; and more than two dozen video games.
“Kevin was a brilliant actor,” Hamill said. “For several generations, he has been the definitive Batman. It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got the exact right guy for the exact right part, and the world was better for it. His rhythms and subtleties, tones and delivery – that all also helped inform my performance. He was the ideal partner – it was such a complementary, creative experience. I couldn’t have done it without him. He will always be my Batman.”
“Kevin brought a light with him everywhere,” said Paul Dini, producer of Batman: The Animated Series, “whether in the recording booth giving it his all, or feeding first responders during 9/11, or making sure every fan who ever waited for him had a moment with their Batman. A hero in every sense of the word. Irreplaceable. Eternal.”
Conroy is survived by his husband Vaughn C. Williams, sister Trisha Conroy, and brother Tom Conroy. Memorial services are pending.

The supporting cast featured two-time Emmy Award winner Ted Knight (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Caddyshack) as Commissioner Gordon, Larry Storch (F Troop) as Joker, and Jane Webb (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Archie Show) as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.
Soule and Kasem became the reigning voices of Batman and Robin, respectively, for several years as the Dynamic Duo would appear in two The New Scooby-Doo Movies crossovers, various versions of Super Friends, and The New Adventures of Batman.
Premiering on September 14, 1968, The Adventures of Batman also featured Batman’s primary rogues’ gallery at the time – Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Riddler, Scarecrow, Dollman, Mad Hatter and Simon the Pieman – as well as some notable team-ups of those villains.

“Batman and Superman: Battle Of The Super Sons” Soundtrack Coming Oct. 18, 2022
Dynamic Music Partners announced their score to the upcoming Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons animated feature from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be available to own and stream starting October 18, 2022. The World’s Finest caught up with the acclaimed collective for some comments on the upcoming soundtrack, being released through their Dynamic Soundtrack Records label. Continue below for more, along with imagery from Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons‘ scoring sessions.
The World’s Finest: What’s it like being able to be scoring the beginning of a new generation of super heroes with your latest project, Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons?
Lolita Ritmanis: When I saw the first cut of Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, it was beyond thrilling! The music was immediately playing in my mind! Composing the score during the pandemic was deeply healing, allowing me to savor every moment of creating soaring melodies, exuberant action music, and heartfelt themes. Producer Rick Morales wanted music to connect us all to our inner child. I am thrilled that Michael, Kristopher and I have an opportunity to share our music with you.
Michael McCuistion: I’ve been so fortunate to have had Batman and Superman in my scoring life for many years, writing music that has become an iconic part of many children’s lives. How cool is it now to be able to score their children’s music?! It feels like such a fresh start, a real beginning of a new era for these beloved heroes with their new families. Being a part of Warner Bros. first full-length CGI project is terrific, too – another beginning – and I am incredibly excited to see what adventures unfold in the near future!
Kristopher Carter: As the father of a just-barely-teenager, myself, I could relate to both the very normal-mortal-person challenges as well as pure joy our two heroes experienced with their kids, and I constantly was drawing upon those feelings as I worked on the score. This movie has so much to offer fans, parents, kids and I’m excited that the music is available to be enjoyed outside the movie too!
